OtherWorld Origins

People have been asking me lately where I got all these ideas and writings and thoughts...well, here goes: it all started with a CD Walkman, a Cigarette, and a Greyhound Bus. Not your typical way to start a story I know but, I digress...
I was on my way out of my parent's house for the first time of my life...not because I wanted to, not because they wanted to, I needed a job. So I went to train for one and go to college.  Next thing I knew, I was on my way to a place called Laona, Wisconsin, out in the middle of nowhere...

I remember how scared I was (I was 18 at the time and didn't know how I could get along without my folks), but then when I was sitting there on that boring old bus driving along a vast country road to only God knew where, I remember this guy with Red Hair got on the bus with me.  The guy looked completely bad-@$$, Gothic EVERYTHING...he looked rather pissed-off too.  I figured if I even looked at him wrong he'd kick me in the balls...heh, was I sure wrong...

So I simply chose to not look him in the eye, and relaxed with my Walkman, staring out at the boring-old countryside.  But you know, that didn't last long because later...I had to transfer to a van to get further north in Wisconsin, and lo and behold, Mr. Tough-guy, the guy who would kick you in the balls for blinking, got off too...apparently we were waiting for the same van...

Honestly, I was scared crapless, he just stood quietly, and lit a smoke.  Something I wasn't at all used to...  There was something about him though I didn't notice earlier, a quiet intensity that said he could do anything if he set his heart on it...

            That's when I found a kindred spirit...

We started talking about whatever interests we had in common, videogames, anime, art in general, music, you name it...funny thing, we like all those things a lot, but he was an Atheist and I was a Christian.

Eventually I found out about the man known as Rob Rydzinski, and he found about me.  It turned out he was an avid anime artist and hopefully wanted to draw Manga...he even did a project for Image Comics called "Echoes"  pick it up if you can find it, he's looking for it.

We hung out a lot in our spare time of doing mundane pointless office-beyotch work, and eventually I told him my interest in becoming a video-game designer...that's where we clicked the most.  The majority of the ideas on these pages are a collaboration of his and mine, eventually he and I somewhat parted ways, but that never stopped us from working on this project, we've had some delays and I've had to do some solo-work because he's busy with a new bundle of joy on the way, and the fact that he lives in Kenosha and I in Milwaukee, but I'm hoping this will become more than a website in the near future.  He's asked me to be the Godfather of his child, I've yet to hear anything beyond that though.

Besides how we met, there isn't much else except three things: don't ever piss me off by insulting my artwork...mainly because if you do...I'll just draw EVEN BETTER ART!!  Rob has done this, and been impressed with the results, "I need to piss you off more often" he says...bleh.

The second thing is this, Otherworld is a joint effort on mine (Michael J. Reske) and his (Robert W. Rydzinski) parts, you want in on the business end of this, you'll have to consult both of us, even though I have been pretty open about it storywise, concepts and the main plot are still set in stone.  I'm planning on Patenting the names and terms of Otherworld soon, and the Otherworld Projects section of my site probably won't be up until that happens because I don't want to share my secrets with just anyone.  But I will give credit where it is due, just don't expect a bigger paycheck than me or Rob when the game sells...heh.  I will accept ideas and try to incorporate suggestions, however.

And last but not least, ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US!  YOU! INVADERS! GET YOU THE HOT BULLETS OF SHOTGUN TO DIE! Back to Main Page
